This page takes on the more, erm…nerdy side of flexi discs (I know….don’t even say it!). Every hobby known to man has some magazine of some sort, and virtually every hobby magazine has used a flexi to add shelf appeal. Let’s start off gently with puzzles and competition types…
The next few are somewhat more educational and offered with various magazines. The first of which is National Geographic. Certain generations of the 60s had shelves full of these yellow-spined magazines, and, as lavishly produced as they are, are utterly worthless. Their flexis are too, but that’s not to diminish their interest. The Songs of the Humpback Whale is possibly the largest selling flexi ever!
Our next gallery features flexis from Transportation magazines, motorised, steam, wind and erm….legs!
The final gallery are mainly computing magazine flexis bundled together with role-play and sci-fi fan mags. Most of these date from the emergence of home computing which was just in the throws of taking off. We’d all gone from ZX-Spectrums to Commodore Amigas to the Windows PCs we know now.
